Following his arraignment Thursday morning on charges of allegedly assaulting two state troopers, Robert Alexander Knight is taken to the Lycoming County Prison by state police Cpl. Michael App. PHILIP HOLMES/Sun-Gazette
After twice refusing state troopers’ orders to step off his porch so they could talk to him, Robert Alexander Knight IV became unruly, telling them he was not “(expletive) going anywhere,” according to an affidavit.
When the troopers tried to detain him, Knight, 22, “physically tensed his shoulders and arms, and continued to resist,” it was alleged in the court document filed by Cpl. Michael App.
As Troopers Brian Moore and Nicole Gripp took him to the ground, Knight punched Moore in the face, App alleged.
This took place about 5:10 p.m. Wednesday when troopers were dispatched to Knight’s home at 421 Pearson Ave. in Loyalsock Township to investigate a domestic disturbance, App said.
En route to the scene, Moore and Gripp were told that Knight was “at the residence, highly intoxicated, agitated and had engaged in a physical” confrontation with his girlfriend, App said.
When the troopers arrived, Knight was “on the front porch, banging on the front door, yelling for his girlfriend to let him in,” App said in the affidavit.
Once in custody, Knight was taken to the barracks in Montoursville, where a protective spit sock hood was placed over his face after he allegedly spat in Gripp’s and Moore’s faces.
From the barracks, he was taken by ambulance to UPMC Williamsport, where he was admitted overnight for evaluation. Upon being discharged, Knight was arraigned Thursday morning before District Judge Gary Whiteman on three felony counts of aggravated assault and one count each of simple assault and harassment. He was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.
