Montoursville area man faces charges as a result of domestic disturbance
While the woman was attempting to gather her personal belongings inside the Upper Fairfield Township home of her boyfriend, Matthew Danie Carey, on Monday morning, the 59-year-old man picked up “a double-barrel shotgun” and fired one round in the wall, it was alleged in a state police affidavit.
Without saying anything, the 59-year-old Carey then picked up a knife and “put it to the woman’s throat” before striking her in the head with the shotgun three times, police alleged. The victim managed to flee the residence, police said, adding she was treated at UPMC Williamsport.
Carey was later taken into custody at his home at 40 Kuhns Road and arraigned before District Judge William Solomon on charges of recklessly endangering another person and simple assault. He was released on $25,000 bail.
