Motorist Steven R. Derrick, 60, of 528 Ruben Kehrer Road, lot 133, Muncy, has been charged with accidents involving damage to attended vehicle (hit-run) after he rear-ended another vehicle on Fairfield Road, near Lycoming Mall Drive, in Fairfield Township about 9:20 p.m. on Aug. 1, but drove away without providing information to the other driver, state police alleged in an affidavit. The driver who was hit had obtained the license of the 2012 Nissan that struck her, police said. The Nissan was registered to Derrick. When a trooper went to Derrick’s home, he found the Nissan with damage that was consistent with being involved in a front-end crash. The car’s hood was warm, the trooper noted in the court document. Derrick claimed the damage to the Nissan “occurred a month ago” when he struck a deer, police said. Also charged with five summary offenses, Derrick waived his preliminary hearing before Whiteman and is free on $5,000 bail.
