Penn College baseball tops Saint Elizabeth in United East game 8-3

Penn College knocked off Saint Elizabeth, 8-3, in a United East baseball game Wednesday. The Wildcats improved to 8-3 UE, 15-13 overall, while the Eagles fell to 5-6, 13-17.
Penn College took a 2-0 lead in the second inning when Jaydon Goebel smacked an RBI single and later scored on a passed ball. The Eagles tied the game with two in the third. The Wildcats regained the lead in the fourth on Shawn Townsend’s sacrifice to right and Matt Munoz’ triple to right.
Penn College exploded for four in the sixth with singles by Munoz and John Croasdale, a balk, and Nathan Gutskey’s sacrifice to right.
Gutskey, Levi Purnell, Munoz, and Croasdale both finished with two hits to lead the offense. Wyatt Hershey earned the win on the bump after one inning of work, allowing no run, on no hits, with two strikeouts.
Penn College returns to action Thursday, 3:30 p.m., at Immaculata.
