HERSHEY – On Saturday at the Giant Center, in the second rendition of the PIAA Girls Wrestling Championships, the Montgomery girls wrestling team put enough collective pieces together to take home the team title, edging out second-place Chestnut Ridge by 4.5 team points with 63.

Junior Zoe Furman capped her storied run by earning silver at 130 to forefront the effort, making it all the way to the final before falling to defending state champion Aubre Krazer (Easton). And deep consolations runs from senior Emily Murphy and freshman Jenna Houseknecht saw the pair of Red Raiders take third, pushing them over the edge.

“It’s not just the girls that were here. It’s the ones that came out for the sport,” said Montgomery coach Matt Furman on the effort. “Everyone of them going into this, it was a cumulative effort. Even though it’s individual effort in the results at the end of the day, all those points count for the team and all those practices that helped make them better.”
