Williamsport uses super defense, balanced scoring in convincing win
Williamsport played stifling defense and allowed just 19 points through three quarters as it earned its first win, defeating Holy Redeemer, 51-33 at the Magic Dome. The Millionaires built a 24-point advantage entering the fourth quarter and Kyreek Bradshaw led a balanced effort with a game-high 17 points. Freshman Tevin Williams scored 11 points and Zion Hughes 10. Micah Washington helped ignite the defense and added eight points. Williamsport hosts its annual Christmas Tournament Friday and Saturday.
Jersey Shore won its fourth straight game, building a 23-point lead through three quarters before holding off a South Williamsport rally and winning, 61-51. The Bulldogs (5-2) have more wins in the last two weeks than the past two seasons combined, and Ben Dalton produced his fourth double-double, going for a game-high 20 points, 13 rebounds and three steals. Landon Lathan scored eight points and grabbed eight boards and Carson Watkins added nine points. Radley Knapp scored 17 for South (4-3) and Chance Quimby had 12. Jordan Baier produced four assists.
All 11 Montgomery players scored as the Red Raiders won for the fourth time in five games, thumping Benton, 58-18. Briar Persing scored a game-high 13 points, Parker Bennett added 12 and Montgomery (5-2) built a 33-point lead after going on an 18-2 third quarter run.
The Montoursville girls’ basketball team won its second straight exciting game, defeating South Williamsport, 44-38. Emily George scored a team-high 16 points, while Kayleigh Sheleman and Reagan Tucker combined to make five clutch fourth quarter free throws. Sheleman also scored a career-high 12 points. Abby Akers had a big game for South, scoring 27 points, including nine in the fourth quarter as South (3-3) tried rallying against the Warriors (3-3).
