Muncy’s Austin Johnson had an outstanding run at the annual Powerade Wrestling Tournament, reaching the championship match of the 215-pound bracket and taking home a second-place finish. The Muncy senior was the only area wrestler to reach the championship round in the talent-packed tournament.

Johnson battled Wyoming Seminary’s Jude Correa tough in the 215-pound final, but wasn’t able to secure a point against Correa.

After three periods, Correa secured a 4-0 decision victory to take the title.

Johnson outworked Kiski’s Cooper Roscosky in the championship quarterfinals for a 10-3 decision victory. In the semifinals, Johnson secured a trip to the first-place finals thanks to a close 8-5 decision win against Lucas Lawler of Bishop McDevitt.

Montoursville’s Gage Wentzel claimed a sixth-place finish after he lost at 172 pounds. In the fifth-place finals, Notre Dame-Green Pond’s Dominic Sumpolec beat Wentzel by major decision, 12-2.

In the Round of 16, Montoursville’s Teli Bobotas fell via tech fall to Norwin’s Landon Sidun, 22-6, 3:20 at 121. Montoursville’s Hayden Harvey also lost in the Round of 16 by tech fall. The Warrior lost in the second period to Keegan Ramsay of Notre Dame Green Pond, 18-0, 2:29 at 160.

Montoursville’s Gage Wentzel lost by major decision in the Round of 16 at 172 against Baylor, Tennessee’s Maximus Norman, 8-0. Montoursville’s Landon Morehart was pinned at 285 in the Round of 16 by Lake Highland Prep, Florida’s Jacob Levy in 61 seconds.

In the Round of 32, Montoursville’s Branden Eisenhour lost a tough match against Franklin Regional’s Beau Fennick at 107, 9-8 UTB.

Muncy’s Kase Snyder was pinned by Germantown Academy’s Shai Sabag at 127 in 3:02 in the Round of 16.

In the Round of 32, Muncy’s Gage Swank battled Chazz Robinson of Homewood Flossmoor, Illinois tough at 121, but came up shy via decision, 5-1.

Montoursville’s Blaize Vogel fell in the Round of 32 at 133 to Manuel Saldate of Slam Academy, Nevada by tech fall, 17-1, 3:43.

Muncy’s Paxton Derr fell in the Round of 32 at 152. The Indian lost by tech fall to Gabriel Delgado of Slam Academy, Nevada, 16-1, 2:49.

Montoursville’s Owen Kleinman lost by major decision, 10-0, at 189 to Berks Catholic’s Carmine Lenzi. Gabe Vanderwall of Montoursville was pinned in 15 seconds against Wyoming Seminary’s Jude Correa at 215.
