Lyco women’s basketball picked eighth in Landmark preseason poll
The Lycoming College women’s basketball team was selected to finish eighth in the Landmark Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll.
Scranton, the nine-time defending conference champions, topped the poll with 80 points and eight first-place votes. Catholic finished second with 73 points and the other two first-place votes, while Elizabethtown (64), Susquehanna (59), Moravian (43) and Drew (41) round out the other teams predicted to make the six-team conference championship tournament. Wilkes (31), Lycoming (29), Goucher (15) and Juniata (15) finish the poll.
The Warriors return four starters from a team that finished 12-13 overall and 6-12 in the Landmark Conference in the last year of Chris Ditzler’s 32-year tenure. First-year head coach Shane Rottier welcomes back senior guards Meghan Dufner (10.0 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 2.9 apg) and Mya Wetzel (6.9 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 1.4 spg) and senior forwards Ashley Yoh (9.7 ppg, 5.3 rpg) and Alicia Goldenziel (5.8 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 1.3 apg).
The Warriors begin their season on Wednesday, Nov. 13 when they host Penn State-Altoona at 7 p.m. Six days later, they will open Landmark Conference play at Juniata.
