Lyco men’s hoops named tenth in Landmark preseason poll
The Lycoming College men’s basketball team was selected to finish 10th in the Landmark Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll, the conference office announced on Thursday, Oct. 31.
Susquehanna topped the poll with 78 points and seven first-place votes and Catholic was close behind with 73 points and two first-place votes. Drew took third with 68 points and one first-place vote, while Wilkes (55), Scranton (45) and Goucher (45) round out the field expected to make the conference championship. Moravian (33), Elizabethtown (25), Juniata (19) and Lycoming (13) make up the final four slots.
The Warriors return two starters from a team that finished 9-16 overall and 5-13 in the Landmark Conference in 2023-24. Junior Isaiah Valentine posted 12.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game as a sophomore, and junior J.J. Beagle – a Williamsport grad – added 9.4 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.0 block per game. Sophomore Hayden Pardoe – a Central Mountain grad – also returns after averaging 9.5 points and 6.6 rebounds per game as a rookie.
The Warriors begin their season on Nov. 8 in the Hawks Against Hunger Tip-Off Tournament against Franciscan. They will host their home opener on Nov. 16 versus Haverford before kicking off Landmark Conference play on Nov. 20 against Juniata.
