Danville notes: Danville (7-0) is the state’s top-ranked Class AAA team, defeating Loyalsock in consecutive district championships. The Ironmen have captured four straight district titles and vaulted undefeated Lewisburg for first place in the district standings following last week’s dramatic 22-19 win against Mount Carmel.

The Ironmen rallied to score the game-winning touchdown in the final minute. Bo Sheptock ran for three touchdowns and has run for 20 this season while also topping 1,000 yards for a second straight season. Quarterback Madden Patrick is second all-time among District 4 quarterbacks with 85 career touchdown passes and needs 11 to break the record set by former Selinsgrove quarterback Logan Leiby. Cole Duffy is the latest Danville receiver to close in on 1,000 yards, following in the footsteps of all-staters Carson Persing and Aaron Johnson. Duffy averages more than 100 yards per game and torched Montoursville for eight catches, 222 yards and two touchdowns in a Week 3 comeback win. Montoursville is the lone team to reach 20 points against Danville. Landon Kehoe had a big game against Mount Carmel, producing 14 tackles, including four for loss. Danville has won 11 straight regular season games, the second-longest streak among District 4 teams.

Danville player to watch–Cameron Kiersch: One of the state’s premier linebackers the last three years, Kiersch has 383 career tackles, including 37 for loss. The four-year starter leads the team in tackles, averaging 10.4 per game and is coming off a 148-tackle season. He made 13 tackles against Mount Carmel a week ago.

Loyalsock PPG–24.1, PPA–20.9; YPG–303.4, YPA–256.3

Loyalsock notes: Loyalsock (5-2) is a victory from clinching its 12th straight winning season. The Lancers are coming off a thrilling 24-23 comeback win at Warrior Run and have vaulted to third in the District 4 Class AA playoff standings. The Lancers have come from behind twice in the fourth quarter to win games and also made a goal line stand against Mifflinburg to preserve a 28-27 win in the season opener. Loyalsock mounted a game-winning 90-yard touchdown drive to edge Warrior Run with quarterback Nick Avalos finding Jalil Coates on consecutive big plays. Coates totaled 142 yards, also running for 52 yards and a touchdown. He has scored touchdowns as a runner, receiver and on special teams since Week4. Dolan Harman went over 100 yards for a sixth time and is fourth among area rushers. Chase Wright has made a strong impact in his first year playing football, intercepting three passes. Wright sealed last week’s win with an interception on Warrior Run’s final series. Standout lineman Jeremiah Johnson helped force that interception by nearly producing a sack and forcing an errant throw. Linebacker Deryk Kulp played a strong game against Warrior Run, making 10 tackles. Fellow linebacker Preston Gross averages 9.7 tackles per game and defensive end Isaiah West has six tackles for loss.

Loyalsock player to watch–Anthony Lewis: The senior cornerback is having a strong season and was a big factor against Warrior Run, helping negate the Defenders’ strength there. He will play a key role tonight against one of the district’s top passing offenses. Lewis came up big against Mifflinburg in the opener, making a game-sealing interception.

Outlook: Loyalsock has played some strong teams this season but this will be its toughest test yet. The Lancers have displayed their toughness and resilience and both will be tested again tonight. They will have to play their best gam
