Lewisburg notes: Lewisburg is 4-0 for the first time since 2010 and Warrior Run for the first time in the 2000s, so tonight’s rivalry game is especially intriguing. The Green Dragons have dominated the second half in all four games, outscoring the opposition, 72-11. That included a week ago when they scored 13 straight fourth quarter points and downed Hughesville, 39-20. An experienced offensive line has paved the way, helping Lewisburg top 30 points in three consecutive games.

Jeremiah Davis leads the area in rushing and has gone over 100 yards in nine straight games and has reached career-highs the past two weeks, going for 215 yards against Hughesville. Quin Michaels ripped off a 42-yard touchdown run against Hughesville and the passing game has come alive the past two weeks with Chase Wenrich and Jaylen Walker connecting for four touchdowns. Walker has produced 195 yards and four touchdowns these past two games and Nick Coleman made two spectacular long catches against Hughesville. Tyler Downs was a two-way threat last week, scoring a touchdown and adding a sack. Lewisburg held Hughesville scoreless during the second half and produced a shutout in Week 2 at Shikellamy. Michaels averages a team-high 8.5 tackles, adding three interceptions, including a pick 6. Danan Alabakoff also is having a big year and had a game-changing interception in the third quarter last week.

Lewisburg player to watch–Andrew Smith: The senior lineman made two big plays, along with Hayes Schumacher, on consecutive third and fourth-and-shorts when Hughesville had a shot at taking a third quarter lead. Smith is an effective run stuffer who also was a first team HAC-II offensive linemen last fall.

Warrior Run PPA–38.5, PPA–13.0; YPG–365.5, YPA–199.5

Warrior Run notes: Warrior Run is perched atop the District 4 Class AA standings and has won nine of its last regular season games going back to last year. Warrior Run has some some resilience in addition to explosiveness, twice overcoming fourth quarter deficits against Muncy and Bloomsburg. The Defenders rallied from eight points down against Bloomsburg a week ago, scoring 29 second-half points. Quarterback James Keifer leads the area in passer rating and touchdown passes, throwing for a career-high 332 yards and four touchdowns last week. Sam Hall leads the area in receiving yards and caught 10 passes for 162 yards and two touchdowns in the Bloomsbug win, with Eli Butler also going over 100 yards. Cohen Zechman added an 80-yard touchdown pass to Stone Allison. Warrior Run also has run the ball well at times and Colby LeBarron has run for six touchdowns. Allison and Isaiah Betz form a strong defensive end tandem and have combined for eight sacks the past two weeks. Cameron Milheim returned an interception for a touchdown against Midd-West and Hall intercepted two passes against Bloomsburg. Denyn Beachel also collected a sack in that game and Warrior Run held Midd-West to just 27 yards and the starters went two weeks without allowing a point. Kicker Gavin Hunter adds a special teams weapon and has kicked field goals in two straight games.

Warrior Run player to watch–Tyler Ulrich: After not playing last season, Ulrich has picked up where he left off as a promising freshman two years ago. Able to play safety and/or linebacker, Ulrich has made some big plays at key times, including a fourth-and-1 stop against Muncy, and averages four tackles per game. He also provides receiving depth and has caught at least one pass in every game.

Outlook: This one feels like a coin toss. Both soared down the stretch last season while reaching the Class AAA district semifinals. They have built on that momentum and are about as evenly-matched as possible. Expect this one to be decided pretty late.
