Joseph A. Subarton

Joseph A. Subarton, beloved husband of 61 years of Bernadette Gutch Subarton, was born July 24, 1934 in Nanticoke, Pa, the son of Mary Pinkosh Subarton and Stanley S. Subarton. He was predeceased by sister Norma Subarton Pluskie and brother Stanley Subarton.

Surviving are children, Roz Subarton and son in law Tim Howard, of York, Pa; Christopher Subarton and partner Katye Roy of Cornville, ME; Daughter in law Tammy Roberts Subarton of Montoursville, Pa, and grandchildren, James, Alex, Erin Howard and Sam Subarton. Joseph’s son, Darren, died December 27, 2009.

Joseph was a graduate of Nanticoke High School, Nanticoke, Pa and Kings College, Wilkes Barre, Pa. After high school graduation, Joseph enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for four years.

Joseph worked as a reporter for the Wilkes Barre Times Leader, and later worked for the Grit Publishing Company. He completed his career as advertising manager for the Brodart catalog division.

He was a member of the Kings College Alumni Association, and a board member of the Lycoming County Korean War Veterans Association and its Honor Guard.

Joseph was a member of St. Ann Church, 1220 Northway Road, Williamsport, Pa.

The funeral service will be held April 11 at 11 a.m. at St. Ann Church, with Visitation at 10 a.m.
