Larry E. Lorson

Larry E. Lorson, 81, of Williamsport, passed away on March 17, 2025, at UPMC Williamsport. Known for his adventurous spirit and selfless nature, Larry’s departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Born on July 17, 1943, in Jersey Shore, to the late Edward Eugene and Dorothy Elizabeth (Bower) Lorson, Larry’s early life was marked by the bonds of a large and loving family. He was a wonderful father to Nicky Lorson and a cherished brother to Carol Tacka, John Lorson (Ellen), Linda Bartges (Dave), Steve Lorson (Denise), Denny Lorson (Dawna), and Nancy Bashista (Ken). He also held a special place in the heart of his sister-in-law, Lorraine Lorson. His dedication to family was evident in the warm relationships he maintained with his many nieces and nephews, who fondly remember his kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand. Along with his parents, Larry was also preceded in death by his brother, James Lorson, and his sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and Bob Wenner, as well as his brother-in-law, Charlie Tacka.
A proud graduate of Jersey Shore High School, Larry carried the values of his education throughout his life. He was a man of discipline and commitment, traits that served him well during his service in the U.S. Army. After his military service, Larry joined the Lycoming Supply Construction Company, where he dedicated 61 years as a heavy equipment operator.
An avid fan of NASCAR, Larry could often be found cheering on his favorite drivers and discussing the latest races. His love for the outdoors was fulfilled through hunting and exploring the natural beauty of Pennsylvania. True to his adventurous nature, Larry had the unique distinction of having visited every state in the U.S., a testament to his love for driving and exploration, especially in his beloved green jeep. Despite his travels, he never once boarded a plane, preferring to keep his feet firmly on the ground.
Larry was a regular at the Nippenose Valley Tavern and Arby’s on the Golden Strip, where he was a familiar face and a friend to many. His presence at these local establishments was as much a part of the daily routine as the meals he enjoyed.
Those who knew Larry will remember him as a man who was not only adventurous and handy but also selfless. His willingness to help others knew no bounds, and his generous spirit touched many lives. Larry’s legacy is one of kindness, resilience, and an unwavering dedication to those he loved.
In keeping with Larry’s wishes, services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
