Janet H. Miller, 91, of Williamsport, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2025, at the Gatehouse in Williamsport.
She was born in Williamsport on Jan. 17, 1934, a daughter of the late Harold A. and Mary E. (Leighty) Sheef. She graduated from Williamsport High School in 1951.
Janet was married to the late, Roy A. “Bud” Miller Jr. on April 30, 1955. They were together for 48 years until his passing on April 13, 2004.
After her retirement from Northern Central Bank, she pursued one of her lifelong goals – to travel the world. Her travels took her throughout Europe, Israel, Russia, Iceland and much of the U.S.
Janet also enjoyed gardening, plants and going to the theater for musical concerts. She loved to play cards, Scrabble, crossword puzzles, Sudoku, Cryptoquip and many other trivia and word games. She was an original member of her Card Club and played with the group for over 50 years.
Janet was a loving mother and grandmother and a beautiful soul who would help anyone. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends. Although Janet is gone, she will live in our hearts forever.
Janet is survived by a son, Roy A. Miller III; three daughters, Michele (Joseph) Harvey, Marilyn Hughes and Linda (Jeffrey) Williams; three grandchildren, Michael Hughes, Kathryn Gollotto and Dylan Galetti; five great-grandchildren, Andrew, Mason, Lilly, Kayla and Brody; a sister, Patricia A. Shannon; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Janet is preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret A. “Peggy” Allen; a granddaughter, Jesse Galetti; and two brothers, Richard and Donald Sheef.
Services for Janet will be held at the convenience of the family.
