Mary Jane Keyte Reiner

Mary Jane Keyte Reiner, known by her friends and family as Janie, passed away on Jan. 8, 2025 at WeCare in Loyalsock. She was born in Montoursville on Dec. 3, 1930 to the late Ernest and Pearl (Edkin) Temple.

Janie was a 1948 graduate of Montoursville High School. Janie spent many years employed at Carey-McFall in Montoursville, and prior to retirement worked at Halls Station Sub Shop.

In 1951, Janie married M. Robb Keyte, and together they created a loving family in Montoursville. Their marriage, lasting until Robb’s death in 1996, was built on devotion and shared joy.

As parents, they were deeply committed, attending countless dance recitals and ballgames.

In their leisure time, they enjoyed relaxing by the pool, dining out with friends and hosting lively parties for those they cared about.

In 2000, Janie married Luther P. Reiner. Luther and Janie enjoyed many fun-filled years together traveling to their favorite casinos, ballroom dancing and never missing their 5 p.m. cocktail.

Janie’s true joy was serving as the matriarch of a family who adored her. Mom, gram, or great-ma’am, as she was referred to by her family, loved to have a house filled with people and laughter.

Janie kept the beer cold, the home-made spaghetti sauce warm and was always ready to beat you at her favorite card game. Her signature hoagie salad and refreshing honesty will be forever cherished and deeply missed.

Janie leaves behind a loving family who adored her, including her children, Dan (Carlene) Keyte, Judy (Trey) Hakes, Ken (Christia) Keyte, and Bill Keyte; as well as nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Janie was preceded in death by Robb; Luther; and her siblings, Elery Temple and Ethyl Steinbacher.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a. m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 733 Broad Street Montoursville.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Janie to the W.B. Konkle Memorial Library or the Montoursville Fire Department.
