Edna Ruth Hipple

Edna Ruth Hipple, 104, left her earthly home and entered eternity surrounded by her living family on Jan. 14, 2025.

She was born the daughter of the late Ruth and Herman Winner, of Calvert, on Nov. 3, 1920. She married Raymond Carl Hipple on June 3, 1939, and together they shared 58 wonderful years before his passing on Nov. 1, 1997.

Edna was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard Winner and Clarence Winner; a sister, Edith Winner Stecker; and a great-grandson, Tyler Belton.

Surviving are three children, Gloria Jean Reed (Tom), of Calvert, Audrey Rae Cunningham (Edward), of Cogan Station, and Jack LaRue Hipple (Patricia), of Calvert. She was blessed with nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

A celebration honoring the life of Edna will be held on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, Montoursville. The family will receive friends and family at 10 a.m. and a celebration of life service will follow at 11 a.m. Internment will be in Beech Valley Cemetery, Trout Run. Reverend Adam Miller, husband of one of Edna’s great-grandchildren, will officiate the service.
