Charles (Buddy) L. Lowe September 28, 1938 – January 4, 2025
Charles L. Lowe, fondly known as “Buddy,” passed away peacefully on January 4, 2025, in Austin, Texas, surrounded by family. Born on September 28, 1938, in Muncy, Pennsylvania, Buddy lived a life full of faith, love, and generosity.
Buddy graduated from Muncy High School in 1956 and began his career in construction, working for nine years before establishing his own business, Lowe Construction, in 1965. Over the years, Buddy successfully built countless homes and projects in the Muncy area, leaving a lasting legacy in his community.
Buddy married his first wife, Dolores (Van Horn), in 1962, and they shared 31 wonderful years together until her passing in 1993. The following year, Buddy married Mary Lou (Weaver) Sommers, who had also experienced the loss of her spouse in 1993.
Buddy is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Lou, his children from his first marriage, Deborah, David, Richard, and James; and Mary Lou’s daughters, Laurie, Sharon, and Donna. Together, Buddy and Mary Lou were blessed with 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Jean, Ruth Anne, and Larry.
A lifelong resident of Muncy, Buddy loved growing up and raising his family in the town he cherished. In his later years, he split his time between Muncy and Hilton Head, South Carolina, enjoying the best of both worlds. His final months were spent in Austin, Texas, surrounded by Mary Lou and her family.
Buddy was a founding member of Grace Baptist Church and a man of deep faith, who longed for the day he would meet his Savior in heaven. He was an avid hunter, a generous giver of his time and resources, and a devoted family man.
He will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his love for God and family, and his impact on everyone who knew him.
A celebration of Buddy’s life will be held at Grace Baptist Church (Muncy) at 2 p.m. on March 1. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to Grace Baptist Church (Muncy).
May his soul find eternal peace in the loving arms of his Savior.
