Francis Thomas Daly, Jr

Francis Thomas Daly, Jr MD of Faxon, Loyalsock Township passed peacefully on Sunday evening September 1, 2024. He was born June 8, 1959 in Baltimore Maryland, the oldest son of the late Dr. Frank “Foss” and Geraldine Austraw Daly. He grew up in Towson and attended Gilman School in Baltimore, graduating in 1977. Then he was off to Stanford University in California. Unsure what direction to take in life, he was strongly encouraged to get into medicine by his father. Frank returned to the East coast to attend the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

After a whirlwind courtship he married Karen L. Eiswert in Lock Haven, on St. Valentine’s Day, 2000. Frank had two children, Jared Eamonn Daly, (wife Christine) and their daughter Ava. A daughter Brianna Kathryn Prats, (husband Matthew) and their daughter Ann. Also surviving is a brother Brian (Louise) of Olney MD. A sister Dr. Linda Daly O’Neill of Marshfield WI and her children Finn and Dr Niav O’Neill along with several cousins around the globe.

Frank was a practicing Internist for 14 years with Geisinger then later Susquehanna Health in Lock Haven. After his marriage he relocated to Hanover PA to take a position at Hanover Hospital. Eventually, hoping for a better work life balance Frank went on to complete a second medical residency in Psychiatry at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. He then accepted a position at Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill.

While practicing he was a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

In April 2024 due to declining health, he retired as Medical Director of Crossroads Counseling Service in Williamsport, a position he held since 2013. Frank greatly enjoyed his work helping all of his patients. It was not uncommon for former patients to approach him out and about to tell him of a job promotion or significant improvements in their lives.

Frank was a man of faith and a member of St Boniface Roman Catholic Church. He loved to visit Grottos, especially the National Shrine Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes in Emmitsburg, MD. He was also a member of the American College of Physicians (ACP), the Alumni Association of the Medical School of Maryland and he belonged to the local Hibernians.

As a young teen he attended sail camp and that solidified a lifelong love of sailing. He was probably most at peace sailing about at Bethany Bay. In August Frank was able to take an impromptu trip to Bethany Beach for what he expected to be the last time.

Frank was an avid student of history, especially Irish history, the Civil War and World War 2. Ireland held a special place in his heart. His father was born and raised in County Offaly and there were ample trips back to visit family, view historical sites and to and see the magnificent landscapes.

The Baltimore Colts later the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles were his favorite sports teams. If you ever wanted to get him going one only had to ask about the Colts sneaking out of Baltimore in the middle of the night during a snowstorm. Frank and Karen also enjoyed travel, especially to Hilton Head, Jekyll Island and Savannah GA.

Frank was a good man. He adored his wife, loved his children and deeply missed his parents.

If desired, memorials may be sent to the Susquehanna Health Foundation for the benefit of The Gatehouse, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701. They provided outstanding care to Frank in his final days and his family will be forever grateful to them.

Visitation, Saturday September 14, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Crouse Funeral Home, 133 E. 3rd St., Williamsport with memorial service at 11:15 a.m.
