Cynthia M. Mahoney

Cynthia M. Mahoney, 76, of Williamsport, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2024, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Williamsport on June 15, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Miriam Irene (Pricher) Sechler. Cindy graduated from Williamsport Area High School in 1966 and married the love of her life, William J. “Bill” Mahoney, Jr., in 1971. Together, they raised three children.

Cindy worked at the former Northern Central Bank for 15 years, but her true passion was being a devoted mother and supporting her children in all their endeavors. Whether volunteering as a classroom mom, organizing school carnivals for the PTO, or driving her daughter’s Odyssey of the Mind team, Cindy was always there. Her commitment extended to the community as well; she organized a summer string camp at the Little League complex, managed the concession stand for the band association, and served as treasurer for the summer swim team. When she needed a break, she enjoyed walking along her beloved routes throughout the east end of Williamsport.

After their children grew up, Cindy and Bill embraced a busy social life, immersing themselves in ballroom dancing. They could often be found taking classes or dancing with friends across Williamsport and beyond.

Cindy was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, but it was at the former Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church where her faith deepened. She actively contributed to church events, including the annual spaghetti dinner and the church fair, and served as the Sunday school secretary.

Cindy is survived by her husband, William J. “Bill” Mahoney Jr.; three children, William Mahoney, III (Monica), Sara May (John), and Ann Androsky (Jon); a sister, Sherrie Ulsamer (Steve); and two grandchildren, Lillian and Hazel Androsky. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Charles Sechler Jr. and David E. Pricher Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 27, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 800 W. Central Ave., South Williamsport, with Rev. Glenn McCreary officiating. Burial will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery.

A viewing will be held on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave., Williamsport.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lycoming County S.P.C.A., 2805 Reach Road, Williamsport, PA 17701.
