Muncy school board hires football coach
The Muncy school board during its recent meeting acted on mostly personnel matters including the hiring of a new varsity football coach.
Chris Persing becomes the school’s next gridiron coach replacing Sean Tetreault, who headed up the program for the past 10 years.
During his tenure, Tetreault guided the team to five district titles and a final four appearance in the 2024 state playoffs.
His coaching record was 91-36.
Tetreault is reportedly stepping down from the position for personal reasons.
He was unable to be reached for comment.
Persing has served as an assistant football coach at Muncy as well as head and assistant baseball coach. He teaches social studies at Muncy.
“Sean has done a great job,” Persing said. “Our goal is to continue the trend that Sean has established for the program.”
In other personnel issues, the board approved the following for coaching or athletics- support positions: Ben Burns, head junior high boys soccer; Jason Gresh, head varsity girls soccer; Kristy Rosario, head girls tennis; and John Karichner, assistant junior high girls soccer, Ben Murray, weight room supervisor.
Sobeida Duran-Segovia and Stacy Saar were approved as food service workers at $14 per hour.
The board accepted the following resignations:
Rae-Ellah Tetreault, varsity field hockey coach.
Vickie Conner, elementary school secretary.
Mechelle Marks, food service worker.
Scot Cleona, food service worker.
The board approved a $34,754 contract with CXtec for wireless Internet access. With reimbursement, the district’s cost will be $10,426.
The board approved the academic and board meeting calendars for the 2025-2026 school year.
The board will meet the third Monday of each month except in January, May and December. In addition, the board will meet the second Monday of each month except January, June, July, August, and September.
All meetings will be at 7 p.m.
In other matters, the board approved:
A two-year agreement with ESS Northeast, LLC for substitute staffing services.
The 2025-2026 BLaST IU 17 operations budget.
A referral agreement with Crossroads Counseling, Inc.
Purchase of an ice machine for $5,000 from Braim’s Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Turbotville.
The next board meeting is set for 7 p.m. Monday, March 10 at the junior/senior high school’s library/media center.
