Commissioners reduce taxes for Loyalsock Township business

A request for a real estate refund from Aldi, Inc. for their property in Loyalsock Township was approved by the Lycoming County Commissioners at their meeting this week.

According to Brooke Wright, the county’s chief assessor, Aldi’s had challenged the 2023 assessment on the property which resulted in the refund of $2,846 in 2024 county taxes.

The board approved a contract with H&P Construction Inc., in the amount of $239,583 for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) polling place renovation project. The Department of Justice had identified county polling sites that were ADA inaccessible and ordered the county to rectify the problems.

In other actions, the board approved: an agreement with Keystone Communication in the amount of $20,635 for microwave connectivity with Snyder and Union Counties; the 911 statewide interconnectivity grant agreement; repairs to the 2009 Sterling Acterra Packer Truck by Sunbury Motors in the amount of $15,353; GIS Software Enterprise Licensing Agreement with ESRI for $82,000 for the 911 Center and the planning department for mapping; the purchase of a security camera server from Vicon for $51,344 for the 2025 camera project; the 2023-24 PHARE subrecipient agreement with Asbury Foundation for $59,000 for Albright Life rental assistance program; the 2023-24 PHARE subrecipient agreement with Sojourner Truth Ministries for $51,000 for their House of Hope program; an agreement with Bsquared Consulting Group for forensic biotechnology for the Public Defender’s Office; the certification of 2025 county funds for Agricultural Land Preservation in the amount of $51,716; the assignment acknowledgement agreement with BBLB Company doing business as Julie’s Coffee and B & B Holdings; and the intergovernmental agreement for intrusion detection services with the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency for cybersecurity for the IT Department.

The award, pending agreement , for the Williamsport Area Cross Pipes phase 2 project to Shiloh Paving & Excavating Inc., in the amount of $4,311,129 was approved by the board. The project is part of the federal Economic Development Administration grant. The project is expected to start Jan. 23 and involve 26 pipes.

The board also approved an extension of a PA RACP ( Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program) grant agreement for the Williamsport Area Relief Well project through Jan. 31, 2026.

The next commissioners’ meeting will be at 10 a.m., Jan. 23, in the Commissioners Board Room, 3rd floor, Third Street Plaza, 33 West Third St.
