BARBOURS — One person was killed and another was injured when their BMW 535 crashed early Wednesday morning into a large tree on Route 87, near Little Bear Creek Road, in Plunketts Creek Township, according to Lycoming County Coroner Charles E. Kiessling Jr.

Killed was the 21-year-old driver, Jake Wallace, of Montoursville, who was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries, Kiessling said.

Wallace was heading south on Route 87, went off the road and struck a large tree about 12:45 a.m., he said. The driver was not wearing a seat belt, he added.

Riding in the car was Alexia Locricchio, 23, also of Montoursville, who suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to UPMC Williamsport, state police said. There was no information Wednesday night concerning her medical condition.

Plunketts Creek Township firefighters and ambulances from Montoursville responded. The investigation into the cause of the crash was ongoing.
