About 25 jobs still available at county

The word from the Lycoming County Commissioners is that there are still job openings at the county and they are urging people to apply.

According to Mike Hagen, director of Human Resources, there are about 25 job openings in county departments, including prison guards, and at Resource Management Services and the sheriff’s office. The job listings are on the Indeed website and also on the county’s website at Lyco.org under human resources.

“If they can’t find it, at least find our phone number, give us a call and we’ll be more than happy to walk them through,” Hagen said.

Prior to the business portion of the meeting, the commissions kicked off the day by honoring Chief of Administration Matthew McDermott for his ten years of service to the county .

McDermott joined the county’s workforce in 2015 after retiring from the army as a Lieutenant Colonel.

In regular business, the commissioners approved three items related to employee benefits. They included: an agreement establishing rates for Stop Loss, Amwins Gene Therapy Solutions GTS Policy at $75.01 for an employee and $166.96 for a family, per month; an agreement with Amwins/Stealth partner Group to establish gene therapy solutions GTS-15 policy at $4.75 per employee per month; and an amendment to the agreement with Luminaire Health to update Administrative fees and Stop Loss Premiums.

The board approved a three-year agreement with Webb Weekly for notification of monthly recycling curbside services. According to Jason Yorks, director of Lycoming County Resource Management Services (LCRMS), the Department of Environmental Protection mandates that LCRMS notifies the public through a written publication of the curbside routes in communities.

The Election Integrity Grant Program post election report for the November 2024 General Election was approved by the commissioners. This documents eligible expenditures for election operations to be submitted to the Department of Community and Economic Development and the General Assembly as established by Act 88.

In other actions, the commissioners approved: an amendment with ATC Group Services doing business as BCM Engineers to extend the Agreement pertaining to work on the Riverwalk through Dec. 31; an agreement with Greenman-Pederson, Inc. as the resident project representative for onsite technical oversight of the Williamsport Levee Cross Pipes rehabilitation in the amount of $170,416; an agreement with Geisinger Clinic for fact and expert services not to exceed $25,000; and a resolution establishing authorizations for banking services.

Under personnel, Sarah Verrastro was hired as a part-time driver at the Pre-Release Center, a union position, at $19.20 per hour.
