Williamsport Bureau of Police get mental health professional co-responder

The Williamsport Bureau of Police will have a mental health professional co-responder who will go on specific calls requiring that assistance and train officers.

City Council recently approved a resolution authorizing a professional services agreement between the bureau and Center for Community Resources for Co-

Responder Program discussed by Assistant Chief Jason Bolt and Chief Justin Snyder.

“This individual will assist us in providing services for persons suffering from a mental health crisis,” Bolt noted.

The professional will be stationed at the department and mobilize to the scene and be able to have access to those who need mental health assistance.

Moreover, they will assist in the training of officers while on duty.

This program is funded through a Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency grant the city obtained and will be funded through 2025 for an amount not to exceed $70,000.

Starting at $2.99/week.
