The City of Williamsport pool at Memorial Park is scheduled to open on Friday.

The grand opening of the pool for this swim season is over Memorial Day weekend, Sean Walker, director of the Williamsport Recreation Department, told members of the city Public Works Committee on Tuesday.

The following weekend it also will be open and the first day of the pool opening regularly is on June 10, he said.

There is a special day planned on June 9 for the basketball courts at Memorial Park. The U.S. Air Force provided a donation for the basketball backboards and rims in city parks. The event will include food vendors and bounce houses and lead into activities at Memorial Park including summer camp, which begins on June 19.

Summer camp has 50-plus children registered, he said.

HomeMade Days, with arts and crafts, music and food vendors at Brandon Park, will be on June 23 and 24.
