Suspect found allegedly hiding in basement

Wanted on four separate bench warrants for a variety of felony crimes, Fugitive Jacob Thomas Greenly tried to flee from city police by hiding in the basement of his former home at 337 Walnut St. on Jan. 22, but in the end, officers nabbed him on the property and automatically placed him in the county prison. Greenly, of 611 Campbell St., was arraigned the next day before District Judge Christinan Frey on four counts of flight to avoid apprehension and remains incarcerated in lieu of $25,000 bail. He has since waived his preliminary hearing on these charges.

One of the bench warrants involved a case in which he was charged by state police with DUI of a controlled and felony endangering the welfare of a child that stemmed from an early-morning crash on Route 14 and Field Station Road in Lewis Township last Feb. 29. Police alleged he was driving a Subaru Legacy while impaired with a minor in the car when it crashed. The child suffered facial fractures, police said. At least two of the other three bench warrants were felony drug charges filed by state police and the county’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit, according to court records.
