Drugs as ‘gifts,’ son threatening to shoot mother, other claims lodged in courts

Accused drug dealer said he gave drugs free as “gifts”

When detectives with the county’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit showed up at 130 ½ Market Street in South Williamsport with a search warrant on Dec. 4, they found James Mullis, who admitted that he had methamphetamine in a bookbag that was in his vehicle parked outside, according to an affidavit. He consented to having the car searched, and the detectives seized 18 grams of methamphetamines, the court document stated.

Mullis, 41, who is homeless, “admitted to providing methamphetamine to ‘friends,’ but claimed they were gifts and that he did not receive cash in return,” it was alleged in the affidavit. The detectives also took possession of a small amount of marijuana gummies and psilocybin mushrooms that were discovered in the residence.

Arraigned last week before District Judge Christian Frey on one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and two counts of possession of a controlled substance, Mullis remains jailed in the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Loyalsock Township man allegedly threatened his mother

Believing his mother was “sending people to follow him,” David A. Crouse Jr., texted her a message that read “I’m going to (expletive) shoot you,” on Dec. 12, according to an affidavit that was filed after state trooper’s were dispatched to the family’s Loyalsock Township home 4021 Bloomingrove Road.

In the same document, police alleged Crouse pointed a gun at his father’s head. When taken into custody without incident a short time later in the 6400 block of Lycoming Creek Road in Hepburn Township, Crouse, who turns 42 on Wednesday, was armed with a loaded handgun, investigators said.

Arraigned before Frey on charges of terroristic threats and simple assault, Crouse remains jailed in lieu of $15,000 bail.

Second person charge in city shooting case

After Dwayne Walker of 608 Maple St., fired a handgun outside his home about 9:40 p.m. on June 2, Sandra G. Alexander exited Walker’s apartment with a backpack, held it open for Walker to put the gun in it and then walked back into the apartment with the backpack, which she placed behind a couch, city police alleged in an affidavit.

While enroute to the scene to investigate a disturbance, officers were told by dispatcher that someone had just fired a shot, police said. No one was injured in the shooting, police said.

Walker, 52, was sitting on his front porch and was “uncooperative,” police said. “A bullet strike was seen in the porch ceiling, above where Walker was seated. Officers also saw a bullet casing inside his front door,” police said in the court document.

While searching the apartment, officers found the handgun behind the couch in the backpack, police said.

Alexander, 50, of 328 Rural Ave., has been charged with one misdemeanor count of tampering with evidence, and was released on $5,000 bail after she waived her preliminary hearing before District Judge Aaron Biichle.

Walker, 52, was charged last summer with recklessly endangering and simple assault, and is also free on $5,000 bail.

Homeless man jailed following domestic disturbance

During an argument over money with his pregnant girlfriend in a motel room in the 2200 block of Lycoming Creek Road in Old Lycoming Township about 7:20 p.m. on Feb. 8, Marvin Andre Smith Jr. twice tried to strangle the woman by “placing his hands on her neck as well as her mouth and nose, impeding her breathing,” Lycoming Regional police alleged in an affidavit.

The assault prompted the woman to pepper spray Smith, police said. “Events similar to this have been occurring for about a year” between the two, police were told.

Smith, 39, who is now homeless, was arraigned hours later before District Judge William Solomon on charges of felony strangulation, simple assault and harassment, and remains incarcerated in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Starting at $2.99/week.
