Assault, terroristic threat charges among those lodged in district courts

Old Lycoming Township man charged with sex offenses

Austin Steven Polcyn, 25, of Mill Lane, has been arrested on charges of molesting a male juvenile in the Picture Rocks area between July 2023 and last summer, state police alleged in an affidavit.

Charged with indecent assault, unlawful contact with a minor and indecent exposure, Polcyn was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge Denise Dieter and committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $200,000 bail.

Motorist faces numerous charges following vehicle stop

Although she already has been convicted seven times for driving a vehicle with a suspended license, that did not stop Jacqueline Jean Slaven from again getting behind the wheel of her 2017 Jeep Wrangler and driving on the night of Sept. 26 when a Lycoming Regional police officer stopped her for a vehicle code infraction on Route 220 in Piatt Township.

It turned out that not only was the 48-year-old Eldred Township woman impaired, but she tried to “conceal incriminating evidence” by tossing a bag of suspected methamphetamine onto the ground moments after the 10:15 p.m. stop, police alleged.

Investigators believe Slaven, of 170 Pinecrest Drive, lot 3, was under the influence of some kind of drug, but she refused to submit a blood sample, it was stated in an affidavit.

She told the officers it “had been years” since the last time she used any drugs. The Jeep was impounded after officers spotted suspected drugs and paraphernalia in the vehicle.

On the night of the stop, police learned that there already was a bench warrant for Slaven’s arrest because she had failed to appear last year in court for a previous DUI offense. She was automatically placed in the Lycoming County Prison on the warrant.

After obtaining a search warrant, police went through the vehicle, finding drug paraphernalia and “a large amount of crystal-like substance, believed to be methamphetamine, the court document stated.

Slaven, who has since been released from jail, was arraigned Tuesday night before District Judge Kirsten Gadner on a felony charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, tampering with evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia, DUI and four summary offenses, including her eighth offense of driving with a suspended license.

She was released on $75,000 bail.

Woodward Township motorist allegedly struck another man with his SUV intentionally

Shiloh Sheddy-Flanigan, 25, of 738 Antlers Lane, Woodward Township was arrested and locked up on assault-related charges following a domestic disturbance outside his home in which he intentionally struck another man with his 2004 Subaru Forester about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, state police said.

The victim did not suffer life threatening injuries. Arraigned before Gardner on charges of simple assault, harassment and two summary offenses, Sheddy-Flanigan remains behind bars at the county prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Mother faces felony after allegedly abandoning her children for hours

April Bridges, 31, of 1417 Scott St., has been charged with felony endangering the welfare of children for leaving her 8-year-old son and 15-month-old daughter alone for several hours back on July 26 when the family lived in the 2100 block of Cummings Street, city police alleged in an affidavit.

The son told police that during the time they were alone, he provided his sister “with drinks of water, Gatorade and leftover cake. He said he did not eat or drink anything during the day because he was more concerned about his baby sister being taken care of,” an officer wrote in the document.

Hours later, a neighbor learned the children were alone, offered assistance and reached a family member to pick them up, police said. Following her recent arraignment before District Judge Christian Frey, Bridges was released on $15,000 bail.

She has since waived her preliminary hearing.

Hughesville area woman arrested for allegedly threatening to kill state trooper

While a patron at Hull’s Landing, 27 Route 442, Muncy, about 9 p.m. on Nov. 2, Carrie Anne Kiess had to be forcibly removed from the premises by state troopers because she refused to comply with orders from the owner that she had to leave, according to an affidavit.

While yelling obscenities, she told one of the troopers that “she was going to kill him,” it was alleged in the court document. Kiess, 43, of 215 Green Valley Road, Hughesville, was arrested on a charge of terroristic threats and arraigned hours later before District Judge Denise Dieter, who ordered her to the county prison after Kiess was unable to post $50,000 bail.

She has since waived her preliminary hearing and is free on bail.
