Man who allegedly stole from 9/11 Coalition released on bail

Michael Ritter, 36, of 26 E. Village Drive, charged with allegedly failing to deliver in excess of $7,000 in T-shirts and decals to the Lycoming County 9/11 Memorial Coalition, was arraigned late Tuesday before District Judge Kirsten Gardner and released on $15,000 bail.

In late May, the coalition contracted with Ritter, owner of Mike’s Custom Apparel, to have 500 T-shirts made for the 9/11 Coalition motorcycle ride. The coalition paid Ritter $7,456 for the shirts, which were expected to be delivered by Aug. 1, police said. When the shirts were not delivered and Ritter had made no effort to refund the money by Aug. 20, the coalition contacted police.

The coalition was also out $300 for decals, police said.

Ritter faces felony charges of theft by deception, theft and deceptive business practices.
