Fugitive found hiding on second floor in Williamsport home

When accused drug dealer Samual Harris failed to appear for jury selection in mid-January for his anticipated trial, a bench warrant was issued for the 40-year-old city man by the Lycoming County Sheriff’s Office. Responding to a tip that he was hiding inside his Newberry neighborhood home at 1217 Race St. about 9:40 a.m. on March 3, Williamsport police and other law enforcement officers surrounded the house and ordered Harris to come out, but he refused, according to an affidavit. “Harris was ultimately found hiding with his body curled into a small ball between a dresser, wall and mirror,” the court document stated. Charged with felony flight to avoid apprehension, Harris, already out on high bail on drug and firearm charges, was held for court following his preliminary hearing Tuesday before District Judge Christian Frey. He remains jailed in the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.
