Jersey Shore area man faces charges following gun-pointing incident
While in the 100 block of Maynard Street on the night of July 6, Thomas Baldwin Gibson, 23, of 304 Gibrock Lane, Jersey Shore blocked another man’s vehicle with his own, jumped on the hood of the man’s car and pointed a handgun at him before getting down and fleeing in his Subaru Forester, city police alleged in an affidavit. The victim “feared for his life,” police said. The court document did not explain what prompted Gibson’s alleged actions. Gibson was soon seen walking in the area and detained, police said, adding that he denied having a firearm. Minutes later, officers located Gibson’s Subaru in the 300 block of Locust Street, where he was living at the time. Police obtained a search warrant that allowed them to go through the vehicle once a judge approved the warrant. Officers recovered a loaded handgun from the car’s glove compartment, the affidavit, stated. Charged with recklessly endangering another person, simple assault and tampering with evidence, Gibson waived his preliminary hearing last week before District Judge Christian Frey and is free on $10,000 bail.
