Two charged following brawl
Lannette Kae Garms, 51, of 286 Hill St., Jersey Shore, has been charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and harassment, after she caused a scene at The American Legion, 320 Seminary St., Jersey Shore on Aug. 31, Lycoming Regional police allege in an affidavit.
Dispatched for a fight in progress, Garms was described as pushing multiple people as well as screaming and yelling, authorities said.
The incident began as a verbal altercation between Garms and another person, before turning physical when told to leave by the manager of the establishment, after which she allegedly slapped and pulled the hair of the manager, witnesses told police.
Heavily intoxicated, Garms was allegedly combative and argumentative with responding officers, pushing and attempting to strike them, according to court documents.
She was arraigned by District Judge Denise Dieter, waived her preliminary hearing and was released on $2,500 bail.
Also charged in the incident is John Charles Stewart, 34, of 324 Clinton St., Avis, who allegedly struck an individual attempting to break up the fight in the face repeatedly with a closed fist, continuing the attack once the individual had fallen to the ground, court documents said.
Another witness who attempted to intervene was bitten by Stewart, an affidavit said.
Stewart was arraigned by Dieter on charges of simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment, waived his preliminary hearing and released on $25,000 bail.
Additionally, Garms faces charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended license in a separate incident after police allegedly observed her operating a 2013 Dodge Ram registered to another individual on Oct. 16.
Due to Alleged drug activity involving the two, police requested and received consent to search the vehicle, during which a glass methamphetamine pipe was discovered, an affidavit said.
Garms was arraigned on the new charges by Dieter.
