Identify the oil futures traders that represent foreign governments and energy companies that benefit from high oil prices. Then, see just how much their trading activities have caused oil prices to increase so much over the past year. The Justice Department can then decide whether this spike in oil prices is truly caused by increased demand or if the price of oil has been artificially manipulated in order to create enormous profits for producers or governments. It wouldn't be the first time that Wall Street has been used to rip off the public.

What about four day work weeks where possible? What about four day school weeks + longer days to save bus trips and diesel fuel? What about mandating higher fuel mileage by a shorter deadline? What about additional funding into weatherization programs to save heating oil? What about sliding scale motor fuel prices based on fuel economy. (ie: A 35 mpg vehicle pays $2.50 per gallon, a 30 mpg vehicle pays $3.00 per gallon, a 25 mpg vehicle pays $3.50 per gallon, a 20 mpg vehicle pays $4.00 per gallon and a 15 mpg vehicle pays $4.50 per gallon. Just examples of course.)

There are other options. How about we quit invading middle eastern countries and threatening war with Iran? How about we stop sending all of our jobs to India and China where they are getting wealthier and buying cars? How about electric cars? It's got nothing to do with more drills.
