Inventor's club to
discuss 3D printing
The Williamsport Inventor's Club is bringing Jim Lantry to Williamsport as the guest speaker for its August Meeting, 5:30 p.m., Aug. 27, at IMC Inc., 1127 W. Fourth St., Williamsport.
Attendance is free and open to the public; however, registration is required for this meeting by visiting www.IMCpa.com/events/ or calling 570-329-3200 ext. 8085. Guests and potential new members should join Keith Bloodgood, Club President, for a brief pre-meeting and group orientation at 5:15 p.m.
The Inventor's Club meeting is designed to educate, foster collaboration and networking and give attendees the tools, resources and knowledge they need to move their inventions forward.
Jim Lantry, with Topp Business Solutions, will present to inventors the topic of 3D Printing and how many companies are introducing Additive Manufacturing to save time and money for new product development.
The Innovative Manufacturers' Center Inc. is host to the Williamsport/Lycoming Keystone Innovation Zone, which has provided program support to the Williamsport Inventor's Club since its founding in 2007. Meetings take place on the 4th Wednesday of most months and are open to the public. All attendees are asked to sign a confidentiality agreement prior to the start of each meeting to protect the inventors and information exchanged.

Job Corps is celebrating 50 years of changing the lives of millions of young people; individuals who may otherwise have not had a chance at happy, safe, productive lives.
Aug. 28, Red Rock Job Corps Center will celebrate this milestone with a number of activities for students, staff, alumni, their families and the community. Additionally, the Center will hold its August graduation to honor these successful students. Dr. Francis Cole, Job Corps regional director, is keynote speaker.
During the celebration, campus tours will be available to community members as well as a barbecue luncheon and a number of other activities. IMC will offer a series of workshops for Lean Manufacturing Level One Certification.
Sessions are as follows: A3 Thinking and Value Stream Mapping, Sept. 11; Lean Principles, Sept. 24; Effective Communications, Oct. 7; Standard Work and Root Cause Analysis, Oct. 21; Change Management and Team Building - Nov. 4; Facility Tour, TPM and Downtime Reduction, Nov. 18; Changeover Reduction and Visual Plant, Dec. 9; Lean Project Reports and Graduation, Dec. 23.
According to a news release, benefits of the workshops include Reduced Lead Time, Improved Quality, Reduced Cost, Reduced Inventory, Improved Productivity, Better Floor Space Utilization, Better Teamwork, Improved Morale, Better Perception in the Eyes of the Customer.
This Lean Certification program also is eligible for WEDnet funding.
