FORSKVILLE - The Sullivan County Fair will open Aug. 27 and continue through Sept. 1 at the fairgrounds 1/2-mile from the intersection of Routes 87 and 154.
Entries for the fair now are being accepted, and entrants may register online this year.
Also new this year are a few categories - homemade and commercial wines and taxidermy of large and small fur-bearing animals and birds and fish.
Cash prizes will be given for first and second places awarded in the non-profit group exhibits. The category is open to youth groups, sports teams, church groups and service organizations.
Youth under age 19 may enter the Department 11 category, which includes a variety of classes, including vegetables, herbs, baked goods, flowers and flower arranging, needlecraft, photography, artwork and handicrafts.
No entry fees are charged for most departments and there is no limit on how many items can be entered. Entrants need not be permanent residents of Sullivan County.
However, all entries must be submitted by Aug. 22.
Directions are printed on the entry form and in the premium book, both of which are available at the Sullivan County Extension Office and the Sullivan County Library in Dushore.
To submit entries online, go to www.sullivancountyfair.com and click on the red "online entry" button. Create a new account and follow the directions to submit entries.
Once an account has been created, users will be able to access the premium book online, enter items, save their entry forms and make changes before submitting the final entries.
