Sale to be held to benefit local veteran
The Independent Fire Co. of South Williamsport, 306 Clark St., will host a cash and carry wholesale warehouse sale to benefit a local Air Force veteran with Parkinson's Disease, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
The sale will open at 7:30 a.m. for business owners, vendors and retailers. The sale will be held rain or shine.

Annual memorial butterfly releases to be held
VNA and Centre Crossings Hospice will hold its 15th annual memorial butterfly release at 1 p.m. Sunday, at the Heisey Museum, 362 E. Water St., Lock Haven, and 2 p.m. Aug. 24, at the Centre Furnace Mansion, 1001 E. College Ave., State College.
The butterflies will be used to recognize the life and memories of those who have passed away.
Christian Women's Club to hold brunch
LEWISBURG - The Christian Women's Club will host a brunch at 9 a.m. Aug. 12, at the Country Cupboard Restaurant, Route 15.
Music will be provided by Linda Smith, and the program will feature "A Labor of Love," by the Hand-Up Foundation. The guest speaker will be Betty Blyler.
There is a cost for the event that includes complimentary childcare by reservation. There will be a cost for the brunch.
