Benjamin Samuel Crain, 75, of Ralston, passed away on Aug. 5, 2014, at the Sycamore Manor Health Center, Montoursville.
Ben was born at Williamsport on March 6, 1939. He was the son of the late David M. and Hulda J. (Pentz) Crain.
Ben worked for Lonza for 42 years from which he retired. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and watching his grandsons play sports. He was an avid horseback rider and was an accomplished stained glass artisan. He was a very active member of the Alcohol Anonymous community, reaching out to others, and taking meetings into several institutions locally. He celebrated 30 years of sobriety this past February.
Surviving are his wife of 15 years, Virginia Lee (Hakes) Crain, of Ralston; daughter, Kim Schlipp, of Bethany Beach, Del.; his son, Michael (Sheri), of Willamsport; two sisters, Doniva Laubaugh, of Flemington, Irene (Donald) Wilson, of Williamsport; and one brother, Charles Crain, of Muncy. He also is survived by seven grandchildren, Andrew (Emily) West, Megan Waites, Cassandra (Shawn) Crowell, Christy (Matthew) Larkin, Courtney Gourgoulianis and nine great-grandchildren, Cecilia, Victoria, Matthew, Anna, Sarah, Aurelia, Staki, DeDe, and Maggi.
He was preceded in death by his late parents and his brother, David C. Crain.
Friends and family will be received Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the Charles M. Noll Funeral Home, South Williamsport.
Funeral services for Benjamin S. Crain will be held at the Charles M. Noll Funeral Home, Aug. 8, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor John Lattimer officiating.
Interment will follow in the Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
