Joanne A. Shughart, 73, of Mansfield, died Thursday, July 3, 2014, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Joanne was born Sept. 4, 1940. in Newville, a daughter of George and Dorothy (Coover) Piper. She was the wife of the late Norman Neil Shughart who died in 1998.
Joanne was a member of the Covington Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, cooking, baking, canning and spending time with her family.
Joanne is survived by a daughter, Lona (Jim) Heyd, of Morris; three sons, David (Carol) Shughart, of Mansfield, Dennis Shughart, of Mansfield, Dale (Laurel) Shughart, of Jersey Shore; a sister, Theresa Lesher of Newville; five brothers, Dale (Anna) Piper, of Newville, Larry (Kay) Piper, of Carlisle, Galen Piper, of Boiling Springs, Wayne (Linda) Piper, of Shippensburg, Roger (Deb) Piper, of Carlisle; a sister, Isabelle (Harold) Henry, of New Cumberland; eight grandchildren; one great grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, and Wednesday, July 9, 2014, from 9:30 to 10 a.m. at Nauvoo United Methodist Church, Nauvoo.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the church with Pastor Tom Harmic officiating. A graveside service will be held in Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle, on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
