Sharon Marie (Nicholas) and Raymond Walter Clemens, of Williamsport and Wildwood, New Jersey, will observe their 50th wedding anniversary July 4, 2014.
They were married by the Rev. William H. Kelly at the former First Evangelical United Brethren Church, now a United Methodist church, where they are members.
Mrs. Clemens, a native of Williamsport, is the daughter of the late Olive M. and P.S. Nicholas. She graduated from Williamsport High School in 1959 and from the former Lock Haven State Teachers College, now Lock Haven University, in 1963, and attended Lycoming College. She retired in 2004 from Hepburn-Lycoming Elementary School, where she was employed by Williamsport Area School District, as a kindergarten and first grade teacher, after 40 years of service.
Mr. Clemens, a native of Williamsport, is the son of the late Anna and Walter R. Clemens. He graduated from Williamsport High School in 1956, received a bachelor's degree from Lycoming College, a master's degree from Bloomsburg University and served in the Marine Corps. He retired in 1997 from the former Roosevelt Middle School, now Williamsport Area Middle School, after 32 years of service, including two years as a teacher at Hughesville High School.
They are the parents of a daughter, Crystal Rae Edkin, of Muncy, and a son, John Nicholas, of Dennisville, New Jersey.
There are seven grandchildren.
In honor of their anniversary, a family celebration in Wildwood and an Eastern Caribbean cruise are being planned.
