With the summer approaching, the Uptown Music Collective is gearing up for its annual summer music camps.
These high-powered, interactive music camps run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and cover a wide variety of topics for students of the guitar, bass, drums and voice.
"Our summer music camps are a tradition that dates back to a time before the Collective existed. Over the years these camps have helped develop and polish many of my finest students' technique, they are also a fun and powerful educational experience for all involved, including myself," said Dave Brumbaugh, executive director of the Uptown Music Collective. This year's camps, which start June 16, include vocal performance, guitar for kids, beginning rock, blues, intermediate guitar, bass guitar, drum technique and songwriting camp, which is a new addition this year.
This year's schedule is as follows:
June 16 - Beginner Rock Guitar with Dave Brumbaugh.
June 23 - Vocal Performance with Kim Adair.
July 7 - Guitar for Kids with Dave Brumbaugh.
July 7 -Bass Performance with Tim Breon.
July 21 - Songwriter Camp with Mallory Scoppa.
July 21 - Intermediate Guitar with Dave Brumbaugh.
7/21 - Drum Performance with Adam Westover.
Aug. 4 - Blues Performance with Dave Brumbaugh.
"Participating in the Collective's summer music camps gave me a better understanding of techniques that will help me gain mastery of my instrument (drums). These are intensive, week long camps that I would recommend to any musician looking to better themselves," said Kendall Palmatier, a drum student at the Collective and summer music camp participant. "They are also a great opportunity for students looking for an introduction to the Collective."
