The Relay For Life of Tri-Town will be held from 4 p.m. Friday to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Hughesville High School.
There are many activities planned for the 24-hour period, including the Luminaria ceremony at 9 p.m. Friday. Many teams will sell a variety of food to benefit the American Cancer Society. The public is invited to stop by any time during the event to visit the stands and buy a chance to win many of the basket raffles on display.
This year the Relay for Life of Tri-Town is dedicated in memory of Steve Peterman, a former member of the Reuben's Rubies Relay For Life Team. Peterman died the day before Thanksgiving, November 27, 2013. He attended several area schools and graduated from Milton High School in 1971. He was employed at Koppers Inc., Montgomery, for 39 1/2 years.
He was a member of the Lycoming County Extension Board and served on the Scholarship Committee for many years.
He was the chairman of the Lycoming County Youth Livestock Committee for many years.
He also enjoyed working with children at 4-H camp, where he was the archery instructor and camp cook. He had coached an AYSO girl's soccer team for many years and the Miller Welding girls' softball team and was a member of the NRA.
Peterman also loved to play golf, go hunting and play poker with his buddies. During the past five years he and his wife, Patty, enjoyed riding their motorcycle (trike). Together they rode on several rides for benefits.
