Stanley J. Kowalski, 91, of Williamsport, died on April 7, 2014, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center. He was born in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, to the late Anthony Kowalski and the late Maryanna Stalminski on Dec. 26, 1922.
Stan served in the Navy in World War II as a flight mechanic, flew for Eastern Airlines as a flight engineer, and served as a senior service representative for the Avco-Lycoming Corporation. He completed his associate degree and taught Aviation at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Post-retirement from the aviation industry, he worked in the tool department at Lowe's in Montoursville for 18 years. Well-loved by family, friends, colleagues and customers alike, and he was known for his welcoming smile, optimistic outlook, and his sense of humor.
On July 20, 1963, he married the former Judith Nestlerode of Elmira, N.Y., also in the airline industry, who survives. Surviving in addition to his wife of 50 years, are two sons, Ronald Kowalski, of Springfield, Va., and Stosh Kowalski, of Merrit Island, Fla.; one daughter, Andrea Kowalski, of Portland, Ore.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Stella and Helen, and brother, Victor.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9 at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 702 W. Fourth St., Williamsport. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the church, prior to the mass.
