On Wednesday and Thursday, the Youth International Shotgun Training Coalition will participate in the Raise the Region program sponsored by the First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania.
During a 30-hour period from 6 p.m. Wednesday March 12 through 11:59 p.m. Thursday, anyone who wants to support the development of youth shooters in the International and Olympic shooting disciplines of international bunker trap, international double trap and international skeet in Sullivan and Lycoming counties and surrounding areas will have the opportunity to donate funds to the coalition.
The training coalition is a non-profit organization that supports members of the Sullivan County High School Shooting Sports Team, who shoot the international disciplines.
Morgan Craft unloads her shotgun while Olympic shooting coach Craig Hancock looks on.
The SCHS International Shooting teams include students from the Sullivan County, East Lycoming and Jersey Shore area school districts.
The team welcomes all youth who are interested in shooting the international disciplines.
Some of the current top international shooters in the nation, who have benefitted from the coalition, include:
Billy Crawford, of Johnstown, Ohio - a 2013 National Championship junior gold medalist
Josh, Morgan and Ian are members of the USA Shooting National Shotgun Team, and Billy is a member of the USA Shooting National Junior Team.
Raise the Region is a unique, online giving event that provides an opportunity for people who care about their community to come together and raise money for local non-profit organizations. Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships has donated $125,000 that will be used to stretch a portion of every donation.
