Putting a new spin on 'charity'
The work done at the YWCA Northcentral PA can't always be classified as fun. We help people during the hardest and darkest times of their lives and experience that pain with them.
But every so often, we just need to let loose. With the help of a dedicated and energetic committee of ladies - and an incredibly generous community - we have found our relief in a unique auction setting that benefits the labor of love that is our YWCA.
It's called the Chair.ity auction. And no, that isn't a typo. With a little creative license, our auction focuses on unique seating arrangements. A literal chair charity.
This year's highlights include beautiful Stickley arm chairs, a bistro table and chairs, and a stocked bar and bar stools. A looser interpretation of our auction is the package featuring seats for performances at local venues and gift certificates to many local restaurants. An even different spin focuses on the unique pet package - including a dog bed and photography session for your pooch.
But if your favorite type of sitting happens on vacation we can help you out there, too. Destinations near and far offer relaxation, escape and the opportunity to sink your toes in the sand and take it easy.
Taking place at 6:30 p.m. March 28 at the Genetti Hotel and Suites, this Chair.ity auction is our sixth event of its type and is destined to be our biggest and best yet. The outpouring from our community has been incredible so far. The packages and the entire event could never be a reality without those who find it in their heart to care about the mission of the YWCA.
