E. Jane V. Strous, 96, of 1900 Ravine Road, died on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center. Her husband, Robert T. Strous, passed away June 18, 1974.
She was born on Oct. 26, 1917, in Williamsport, and was the daughter of the late L. Clyde and Nellie Klasen Vollmer.
Jane was a 1935 graduate of Williamsport High School, 1939 graduate of Mansfield University. She worked as a teacher in the Williamsport School District until retiring in 1978. She is a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. She was a former member of the Women's Club, Clio Club, Lycoming Retired Teachers and PA Retired Teachers. She enjoyed playing cards and knitting.
She is survived by two sons, Luther (Linda) Strous, of Montoursville and Richard Strous, of Williamsport; a daughter-in-law, Stephanie Strous, of Isle of Palms, S.C.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Dykins, of Connecticut. She was predeceased by a son, Robert T. Strous Jr. and three sisters, Dorothy Voelker, Helen Troxell and Phyllis Heine.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014, in St. Mark's Lutheran Church Chapel, 142 Market St., Williamsport, with Reverend Kenneth R. Elkin officiating. Burial will be private in Wildwood Cemetery.
The family will provide flowers and suggests memorial contributions in Jane's name be made to a charity of one's choice.
