This past September, The Salvation Army began a new program for seniors called "The Golden Agers Club." We spend time together making crafts, singing music, listening to speakers, playing fun games and sharing a meal together. We meet from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. We've only been together for three months so far, but already, I have learned so much from them!
So, Santa, I thought it would be nice for you to hear some of what the Golden Agers (or as I like to call the, the "Spunky Seniors") have taught me!
Cathy - to be giving
Janis - to be thankful even when suffering with physical pain
Elsie - to acknowledge God's blessings every day
Dorothy - to be committed
Heidi - to be concerned for others
Sandy H. - to treat everyone the same
Caroline - to persevere
Paul - to have humor and faithful love for someone
David- to smile
Patty - to share my heart with others
Sandy B. - to laugh together
Debbie - to share meaningful, happy memories with others
Donnie - to acknowledge others
Captain Debbie - to share my faith
I'm not sure what your schedule looks like in January, Santa, but beginning on the Jan. 7, we'll be meeting again at 10 a.m. at The Salvation Army, 457 Market St. I would love to have you join us! Maybe you can share some of your experiences with us!
Please help by giving generously to the Sun-Gazette and the Salvation Army Santa Fund.
