The James V. Brown Library once again is a recipient of the benefits offered by the Community Work Study Program at Lycoming College.
Six Lycoming College students will work in the library in various capacities, volunteering as circulation assistants, Homework Helpers, a computer help desk assistant, technical services assistants, circulation shelvers and as a development-promotions assistant.
Students work under the guidance of Allison Savage, volunteer coordinator. Homework Helpers are on the first floor of the Welch Wing from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Lycoming College student Alycia Lucio, a senior majoring in creative writing, is volunteering as a Homework Helper at the James V. Brown Library.
Whatever the subject or topic might be, the James V. Brown Library has resources to help. Students are welcome anytime with homework or research questions and can even ask questions through the library's text service called "Ask a Librarian." Text 66746 and start the first message with the keyword 'askjvb' followed by a space. Type your question and press "Send."
The library also welcomes high school and college students who are in need of service hours, who are considering a career in library sciences, or who want to get a feel for the job world.
The library is a great place to gain valuable work and service experience.
To find out more about volunteering opportunities at the library, call Savage at 326-0536, ext. 153.
