Jersey Shore State Bank will open up its 14th branch location early next year, a move expected to add a handful of jobs and give the bank a greater presence in Loyalsock Township.
Recently, bank officials and local dignitaries kicked off construction with ground-breaking ceremonies at 1720 E. Third St., the site of the new office.
"We have been looking for a site in this area for quite some time, so when the opportunity to build at this location occurred we knew it was time to move forward," said company President and CEO Richard A. Grafmyre.
Robert Glunk, senior vice president, said the office will house the bank's mortgage department, now located in the Williamsport downtown office on Market Street.
Some 20 of the 30 people expected to work out of the new Golden Strip office will be employed in the mortgage department.
Although some employees will be reshuffled to the new location, a number of additional people will be hired.
About 100 people work out of the downtown office, Glunk noted.
"We think it's an excellent location," he said. "It's right next to Arby's."
The bank will include a full-service drive-thru and ATM services.
About 50 spaces of parking for customers and employees will be included.
Glunk said the bank already has a nice base of customers in that area. With the opening of the new office, the bank can now tie in with its footprint in Montoursville.
"This gives us a chance for growth," Glunk said. "We are excited."
Jersey Shore State Bank has locations in Lycoming, Clinton, Centre, and Montour counties.
Its parent company is Penns Woods Bancorp Inc.
