LEWISBURG - Packwood House Museum has announced its 2013 Summer Programs for Kids.
Each session will be held 10:30 a.m. until noon on Tuesday mornings June 18 through August 13, at the museum's Tour Center, 15 N. Water St., unless otherwise noted.
All programs are free, but space is limited and the museum requests that parents register their children by calling the museum at 524-0323. Funding for the programs has been provided by a grant from the Woodcock Foundation for the Appreciation of the Arts. All supplies will be provided.
June 18, Folktales, with Fiona Powell:
Welsh-born Fiona Powell, dressed as a weaver, will delight kids of all ages with folk tales from around the world as she spins at her wheel. Weather permitting, the program will be held in Soldiers Park (across the street from the Tour Center).
June 25, The Great Renaldo - Magic Show:
The Great Renaldo will wow audiences with his 1950s-style magic show. Open to all ages with some audience participation.
July 2 and 30 painting workshop at Top Floor Studio, 434 Market Street, Lewisburg:
During sessions for kids ages 6 and up, Jim Reid, local artist and owner of Top Floor Studio, will present a Painting for Kids workshop in his studio. There is a limit of 14 students for each class.
July 9, Pebble Pots, with Mary Jo Tavares:
Tavares, YMCA Arts Center director, will lead the children in a pottery workshop. The students will work in clay, producing a hand-built bowl of their own design. Each bowl will be fired and glazed at the Arts Center in Sunbury, then returned to the students at a later date.
Ages 8 and up are welcome. Limit 12 students.
July 16, Nature Sketchbooks, with Barbara Baker:
Baker, a YMCA Arts Center instructor and colored pencil artist, will help the children create a sketchbook by observing objects in nature and drawing them using colored pencil techniques. Ages 8 through 11 are welcome. Limit 10 students.

Aug. 6, Paper People Collage, with Mary Jo Tavares:
Tavares, YMCA Arts Center Director, will bring paper and trim, guaranteed to stretch a child's imagination, as they create paper people of all shapes and sizes, colors and textures. Ages 6 through 11 are welcome. Limit 12 students.
Aug. 13, Drum Circle, with Steve Mitchell:
Nationally-known drummer Steve Mitchell will teach some basic drumming techniques for kids age 6 and up. Limit of 15 students.
