Free Tai-chi classes at Ankleroot Studio
Tai-chi classes will be held throughout spring and summer at Ankleroot Studio, 38 W. Fourth St., on Sunday evenings from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Classes started on May 5.
Participants will learn Tai-chi warm-up, stretching and breathing exercises and begin to practice the slow graceful movements of Yang style Tai-chi. The class is designed for beginners with more advanced techniques, being introduced for those with more ability and experience.
All classes will be taught by Geoffrey Haun. Classes are open to anyone ages 12 and up. No registration is necessary and those interested can join the class at anytime during the spring or summer.
Wear comfortable clothing appropriate for stretching.
When weather permits, practice will be held outside. Donations are expected.
Countryside Contra Dancers last dance
The Countryside Contra Dancers welcome families, students, new, experienced, all interested people, to the last Contra Dance of the season 7:30 to 10:30 p.m., May 11, at the Donald Heiter Community Center, 100 N. Fifth St., Lewisburg.
Calling by Dave Colestock and live music by Lux Bridge.
New England Contra Dance is a traditional dance form rooted in Irish, English and Scotish jigs, reels and waltzes. Contra dancing is social, easy and energetic, mostly involving a smooth walking step.
All dances are taught and called, with basic figures taught from 7:30 to 8 p.m.
Newcomers of all ages are welcome, with or without a partner. Wear comfortable clothes and soft soled, non-marking shoes.
Admission is $8 for adults and under 18 is free. $5 for students with current ID. Under 16 must be accompanied by a guardian.
